Bump Maternity is a family business owned and operated by Lisa and Tom Szabo who are also raising 7 year old Jake and 5 year old twins Ava and Alex.
Lisa attended a luncheon for women who run their own businesses and a maternity boutique owner in San Francisco presented her experience at this luncheon. Our doors were open for business just 3 months later on October 3, 2006 in Los Gatos, California.
In August 2009, our boutique location moved to San Jose and the format was changed to by appointment only. This allows much more flexibility as we can literally be available at 8 a.m. on a Sunday or 8 p.m. on a Wednesday. Appointments also make it possible to provide individual attention to each customer for a true boutique experience. We can also bring a selection of our inventory to the customer's home or work location based on a "wish list".
With a boutique location in San Jose, California and our entire inventory online, Bump Maternity offers great fashion at a great price to expectant moms throughout the world. We don't charge shipping and we pay the sales tax so the price you see is the price you pay whether shopping online or in our store. We keep our costs low and this allows us to keep our prices low on fashionable, stylish maternity wear.
One important area Bump Maternity focused on immediately was nursing bras. Lisa had a difficult time shopping for nursing bras with both her pregnancies, so her goal was to make sure other nursing moms would not have to go through the same trouble. This is why she put together the largest selection of nursing bras, both functional and pretty at the same time, in the South Bay. In particular, she carries unusual sizes so that hard-to-fit moms would not have to wait for a special order or have to settle for bras made by the local chain store.
